Nothing is. Something is.
A ceramic object as a spatial drawing. Volumes and lines blend into each other, and the spaces in between are forms in themselves. My work exists somewhere in the vast and, to me, fascinating space between the second and third dimensions. The visual possibilities are unlimited: a play with depth and contour, movement, and transparency are almost always present. In addition, emptiness, open space, is essential to the composition as a whole, both in still lifes and wall objects. The ‘nothing’ as a tangible, concrete form. Another invisible but indispensable element in all my work is shadows. With lighting, a new form of the object emerges as a surprising extra dimension.
