We see an artist here who is a ceramist in heart and soul and makes flawless realistic ceramic sculptures. This is a real joy for a gallery of ceramic art like Terra Delft. These works bring together the various aspects of ceramic art: idea – technique – expression.
Some of the portraits are made by model, some are self portraits. Stephanie describes her approach as a more psychological way to dive into human expressions. She is not looking for the grand gesture, rather a magical moment that captures the person. The portraits are inspired by the book Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami. The exhibition includes nine nearly life-sized sculptures and seven minis. The minis, which come on a 3x7x10cm wall shelf, are a response to the pandemic, the corona series.
