Willem's Glance

Artist Judith Bloedjes

The portrait of Willem of Orange at the age of 22, painted by Antonius Mor around 1554, shows a young, handsome nobleman. His glance shows his attitude to life that was characterized by optimism and eloquence. Moreover it turned out that Willem had diplomatic gifts. A detail of this portrait was used by Judith Bloedjes with blue transfer for her white porcelain jewellery. Willem's attentive glance here serves as a talisman, for protection.
