Political turmoil in our current, restless world drives people to the margins. Instead of temporary shelters, refugees deserve permanent housing projects as a home base.

Mali, as a former academic in architecture, an artist, and as a human being, believes in brotherhood and responsibility. Inspired by the beehive, he builds terracotta sculptures in separate parts, such as the monumental 'Home For The Homeless II.' This showcase of living forms refers to the bee colony where migrations regularly occur. Each new beehive-structure represents a shared effort to gather larvae, honey, and pollen.

'I work with locally, sustainably available materials from my region. Bengal has a long historical background in terracotta sculpture and relief works. From this heritage, I continue clay as an ancient medium, but in a contemporary context. Clay is the mother of all media: on one hand it is very strong, on the other hand it is also very fragile.
