Group Exhibition – Boxes of Ceramics

This exhibition focuses on the box – not as an everyday object, but as a form, idea, and carrier of meaning. Five artists explore the possibilities of ceramics in their own unique ways:

The variation in technique and approach is great: from precise to organic forms, from restrained to expressive. The diverse volumes create an intriguing and layered whole. Each artist in this exhibition has specialized in a specific technique and has achieved a high level of mastery in it.

Philippe Dubuc is praised for his colorful, wild glazes on sturdy boxes, which he presents in surprisingly diverse shapes. Additionally, there is the precise and refined decorative work of Mi Sook Hwang, applied to her understated, minimalist forms.

Simone Krug aesthetically and skillfully combines old objects of various materials with fine porcelain or coarse-grained clay. Her captivating objects have character and exude playfulness and lightness. Annet Leichel's porcelain is characterized by unique inlaid color patterns in an attractive variety and is still very much in development. The raku-fired boxes of Susanne Silvertant are combined with self-cast glass elements,  are monumental and immediately recognizable. New in her oeuvre are the wall boxes.

This collection demonstrates the versatility of the interplay between technique and idea, and shows how the ceramic box, in all its forms, continues to challenge and surprise.
