Galerie Terra Delft warmly congratulates Erna Huppelschoten and Frans Ottink on winning the prestigious Van Achterbergh Prize 2026!
The Van Achterbergh Prize 2026 is awarded to studioZAND, the joint studio of Frans Ottink and Erna Huppelschoten in Amersfoort. The biennial prize, consisting of an amount of €15,000, is presented to individuals or institutions that make a special contribution to the development of ceramic art and ceramics in the Netherlands. In 2024 Galerie Terra Delft was the winner.
Since 1989, Frans Ottink has been designing functional ceramics and porcelain tableware, which he produces in editions in his own workshop. His porcelain designs are characterized by clarity in form and function, often with a subtle detail that offers insight into his way of thinking. Erna Huppelschoten creates jewelry from porcelain, silver, and other materials. Her work focuses on the meaning of the jewelry, close to the skin of the wearer. The artisanal process always remains tangibly present, adding a substantive depth to the ceramic oeuvre of studioZAND.
