The Western world jokes about Chinese copies everything. It is not really a prejudice, because Chinese people also  accept and live in their copying culture. There are many alternative words to describe COPY, for example: fake, counterfeit imitate, refer… So we can pass different judgements on COPY. Chinese students are educated from early age  that they should “stand on the shoulders of giants”. This summarizes the action model of new China’s rapid development, that is to improve on the basis of exciting successful results. Actually this COPY method is not only in China, we see it has been applied globally through histories and different cultures. Such as Delft Blue is imitated from China. Through this exhibition, we invite you to discuss about COPY from different perspectives, and see how artists use  copy and transformation to shape their origins. Participating artist Jing He graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. Her graduation project Copy and Identity received Gijs Bakker award, as the best work from master program. Galerie Terra as another participant, established in Delft more than 30 years, and cooperated with Sanbao-Jingdezhen since 2012. Together they have organized many times exchange projects with Dutch and Chinese ceramics artists.

Terra artists at Timmerhuis Rotterdam are Johan Peter Hol, Marc Janssens, Li (Jackson) Jiansheng, Frans Ottink, Saskia Pfaeltzer, Qiu Xilong and ZhenXi.
